The purple flower II
“She is dead.” A dreadful voice spoke.
When somebody –Xanado- suddenly started screaming Mathilda jumped up immediately, shocked. She watched him kicking the wall, harder and harder, screaming. There was much aggression in the man, powerless aggression. It made her cry.
Xanado moved his face towards her and slowly approached her. He kneeled in front of her, in his eyes there was a lot of sadness.
“Mum… she is dead ain’t she..?”
He nodded at her, closing his eyes.
“She has always loved you.. always.”

The word ‘love’ let more tears form in the child’s eyes. Biting her lip she stared into the nothing. There was total silence, it was as if the world was standing still at that very moment, as if time had vanished. Then Xanado’s eyes appeared again.. as she got sucked into them more tears started coming out. He gently took her shocking body in a hug. It felt like her own mum was holding her right now.
There seemed to be some attack on the ship in space, but this didn’t disturb the child and the very sensitive man at all. The man’s presence calmed the child down, the only person in the Galaxy that she trusted right now. A new friend and yet the only one left – as it felt so. When her eyes seemed to have dried out, he let go of her. Sniffing sadly she followed his movements with her eyes. Out of a small backpack he took something, then offered her a chocolate cookie.
“Your mother asked me to give this to you. She told me it’s your favourite.”
Slowly
she took the cookie out of his hand, then looked at his face again.
"Eat the cookie when you are ready, then let go of her. Keep looking into the future,
don’t let yourself be blinded by the past."
"Euh, ok.."
One of his hands moved towards his chest. It stopped in front of the big necklace he was
wearing. It had many colours, although red dominated, on a white background. On
the hanger of it there was a red symbol, somehow she recognized it. It made her
smile; a little man freeing himself from the ball that was about to ingest him,
yet this ball was part of himself.
He put the necklace off his neck and gently put it onto hers. Smiling she looked at it, feeling enthusiasm, joy and sadness the same time.
Physically the big metal necklace felt pretty heavy, yet the very same time somehow it didn’t feel heavy at all.
After a caress on her head he left the room.
“Hey Mathilda.”
Some strange grey room.. unknown, disorientation.. where was she?
“Hey kid.”
A strange man smiled at her.
Confused she got up, the blanket slid off the bed. She stared at it. Then back at the man.
“Are you alright?”
Slowly she got her bearings back. Space ship.. so this was all true.
The man with the long grey coat kneeled in front of her bed.
“I have done many things wrong.” He resentfully started speaking.
What was he talking about?
“And I made up for my mistakes by planning for months, how to take out troopers by medical treatment.”

She scratched an itch, not understanding anything of it. He handed over a datapad to her.
“She would want to have this be given to you.”
Then he left the room, his heavy footsteps bumping on the metal, creating an echo in her mind.
On the datapad there seemed to be one file. Biting her lip, another tear rolling over her cheek,
she opened it. Her confusion at this very moment did not make her understand it fully yet.
